HOOD BY AIR
BY SHAYNE OLIVER
This week’s spotlight designer is Hood By Air’s designer Shayne Oliver, originally a Minnesota native, he also has roots tied to Trinidad and Brooklyn, New York. The 26 year old started his career in fashon when produced his first collection in 2006, of Hood By Air tees & hoodies that featured his classic “HOOD” logo. Shayne has said that he started the infamous line with only $4,000 and a vision. Since then his career has prospered at an unbelievable rate! The brand’s ghetto gothic aesthetic combined with Shayne’s adoration for everything androgynous has fueled an iconic look that speaks to this generation. His fearless attitude towards fashion allows him to push all boundaries. His label redfines gender identity with its lack of form when it comes to menswear vs womenswear. Oliver’s inspiration behind his AW15 collection was said to be a mix of prison uniforms, and the outrageous styling of old school pimps, which blantanly comes through this collection. His latest SS16 New York show left audiences amazed with his craftsmanship, taking inspiration from his experiences as a student in Trinidad. Shayne has left us anticipating what he has in store for the future! Shop Hood By Air.
