On Thursday, April 14th, 2016, WildStyle LA hosted the 2nd annual carnival at their retail location on 7703 Melrose Ave.
Attendees danced the night away to a solid DJ lineup with sets from Cali Thornhill DeWitt, Mike G (Odd Future), Prince Will (Fade to Mind), Guillaume Berg (Bromance / BMC Paris), and Kiri (Phire Wire / Revolver / YES L.A.). As guests, staff, performers and friends mingled through the evening, Virgil Abloh made a special appearance and made his way through the crowds.
Three of the most highly anticipated brands were launched at the start of the event and currently occupy a unique popup experience space in the WildStyle store. The creatives behind Tokyo based label Star Alliance Gold Clothing, released their exclusive collection of word-conscious and eye catching items. The 3 designers who collaborated on the brand were also in attendance – unique designer of Mother/VTOPIA, eri, along with the creative mind behind independent record store Big Love Records, Haruka Hirata, and Cali Thornhill DeWitt, the world renowned artist who designed the artwork for Kanye West’srecent merchandise collection, ‘The Life of Pablo.’ The BMC x Phire Wire collaboration, by BMC Paris and Kiri Okuyama, was also in display with essential black hoodies and caps, along with the launch of Gener8ion Magazine Issue 1 ‘Unite or Perish.’ And finally, Parisian brand Club 75 released their collection of black and white graphic print tees and multi color-way caps in navy, orange and light blue.
Live throwback art was executed by graphic artist Myan Nicholas as he airbrushed caricatures of guests onto t-shirt canvases and gifted them to the guests. Also spotted in the crowd were some of fashion, music and art’s brightest young things: Aleali May, Kerwin Frost, Austin Butts, Cyber 69, Virgil Abloh and more, while guests shopped, enjoyed complimentary cocktails and fresh grilled tacos, in true LA style.
